Britney is (almost) married, b*tch!
On Thursday, June 9, Britney Spears will marry Sam Asghari, whom the pop star has been dating for about five years. People reported that the newlyweds, who met on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video, are set to tie the knot at an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles.
According to People, the wedding will be a small affair with roughly 60 guests from the couple’s “inner circle.”
Spears announced her engagement to Asghari in September 2021. On Mother’s Day 2022, Asghari posted on Instagram Stories that the couple had set a wedding date, but the public would not know about it until the day after the wedding. (He was close.) “Our lives have bee a real-life fairytale,” he wrote, per Page Six.
“I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” Spears said during her conservatorship court hearing in June 2021, per Variety. “I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby, I have an IUD inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant.”
The couple announced they were pregnant in April, however in early May they announced that Spears had miscarried. In an interview with GQ a few weeks later, Asghari said that the couple hadn’t given up hope for a child. “When the baby’s ready, it’ll be the right time,” he said.
Spears lived under a conservatorship since 2008. Her father, Jamie Spears, controlled her estate. In September 2021, a judge suspended Jamie Spears as conservator. Since becoming free of the conservatorship, Spears has been able to make her own decisions pertaining to both her work and personal life, including her engagement and marriage to Sam Asghari.
Britney was briefly married to Jason Alexander in 2004; she then married Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children, before splitting in 2007.
