Love Island star Demi Jones is single and looking for romance this summer but admits it’s a struggle to find someone ‘genuine’.

The reality TV star shot to fame on the winter series of the ITV2 dating series in January 2020 and eventually coupled up with fellow islander Luke Mabbott

They dated for a short while after Love Island but later split.

When asked if she has someone special at the moment, Demi told Metro.co.uk to celebrate the launch of her Missguided collection: ‘Unfortunately not, I’m single and focusing on myself. It’s been nice to be career-driven and focused on Missguided and my Instagram. But hopefully as things are opening up someone will take me out.’

She continued: ‘Whatever comes naturally I will go with the flow but it’s hard to know who’s genuine and who wants to be seen with you for clout reasons and who genuinely likes you.’

With millions across the country keeping up with her and Luke’s romance on Love Island and via social media after, Demi’s conscious of how much to share of her next relationship.

‘When I’m with the right person I will know and it will come naturally to me as to whether I put it on social media. But I’m so open with my fans anyway,’ she said.

Demi’s brief relationship with Luke M came with its fair share of drama – in June, she confirmed that they had split and said her ‘energy wasn’t being reciprocated’.

‘We drifted [apart] and obviously we’re so far away in lockdown which is a shame, but I wish him all the best,’ she told us at the time.

However in November, the pair publicly clashed over their differing versions of how their relationship ended.

In a YouTube video, Demi responded to mounting speculation about their abrupt split and claimed he had met up with current girlfriend Lucie Donlan before breaking up with her.

Luke hit back at his ex’s comments and claimed she asked him to fake the timing of their split.

Demi says the ‘best thing’ to come out of her stint on Love Island is her friendships with the likes of Jess and Eve Gale, Molly Smith and series winner Paige Turley.

Like the rest of us, she’s looking forward to Love Island returning to screens this summer after more than a year’s hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Love Island is a British staple and everyone loves it,’ Demi told us.

‘I think regardless if it was off for five years everyone would still love. I’m super excited to watch it again, I’m super excited to see who’s on there and what diverse people they’ve got on there this year, the drama, the friendships.

‘It’ll be nice to actually watch it for a change because I was on it last time so I haven’t theoretically watched it for two and a half years.’
