M. Night Shyamalan‘s new movie Old will be released in theaters this week and fans might be disappointed to find out there will be no twist ending.
The director’s films like The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and The Village are known for their shocking endings that totally blew away the audiences.
Old is a mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.
The trailer makes the movie seem like one of Shyamalan‘s standard thrillers that will likely end with a big twist, but the cast revealed it doesn’t have one.

Shyamalan talked about the ending earlier this year and said, “I’m deciding on the minor note; how to end on a minor note. The minor note sticks to you forever.”
Luca Faustino Rodriguez, who plays Trent at 11, talked to THR and said, “It’s unlike some of his other movies where there’s this crazy twist that changes the entire movie. It’s got a bit of a different ending than his other movies and I feel like that makes it not only unique but also special and even more fun to watch.”
Alex Wolff added, “Really, that’s not a cop-out. This is really different. It’s really individual. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. I would say couple it with none of [his other movies]… I really see it as kind of an allegorical existential sort of meditation on getting older. I think it’s juggling four or five ideas at the same time.”
